'Washed ashore identity unknown’ 1m x 1.5m stoneware
My great grandfather William Lassiter (1837-1911) was posted as a coastguard from Portsmouth to the Lizard on the Cornish coast. He was involved in saving people from drowning off shipwrecks and would have witnessed many of the people washed ashore remembered on these plaques.
